Jardí. Oil/canvas.

Presentation of the book "Sobre el papel". Library of Gavà (Barcelona, Spain). 22th of april, on the eve of the Day of the Book. Writer: Jose Luis Atienza; publisher: March Editor.
"...Antonio spoke from his tiny flat on the seafront at Gavà. Ostensibly Mediterranean, the classic Mediterranean qualities are not much in evidence in the Baix Llobregat region where the River Llobregat flows sluggishly to
the sea carrying unchecked quantities of industrial waste.

“I have settled on this, and I don’t expect to ever do anything else”, Hervás says, said and will ever say. “I always knew that I would be a painter. Even as a kid, I drew women, with very slim figures using a stub of pencil. I used any old piece of paper, the margins of my text books, anything. In the end I took up painting.
What is painting? It is revealing the unreal present in life, the impalpable, that, nevertheless, is still there. I don’t see painting in terms of being modern or avant-garde, all I see is good or bad painting. What I paint, what I do, I do because I want to do it. No pictorial language forces the decision on me. I do it because I must. What I want to do is struggle and paint. I will always paint,
no matter what happens”.

Tendreses

Has après a trobar-t'hi.

Vas ordint-hi tendreses.

GINECEO

Despierta entre el vaho
y en tus ojos,
mechas de oro viejo
y espigas,
en la solitaria cartografía
de la materia.

Caminas al infinito
río de los sueños,
donde brota el aguamiel
para los labios.

Donde se impone la cordura
de astuto navegante,
que, en ausencia de azules,
busca la verdad
de antiguas travesías.

Antonio Hervás won the prize Antoni Serra of the visual arts
This distinction is under the Prizes of Cultural Gratitude from Baix Llobregat (Barcelona) and is given every year by the Centre d'Estudis Comarcals. It has 12 categories (theatre, nature conservation, comunication, scenic arts, local initiative, literature, music, heritage protection, civic gratitude, pedagogy, investigation and popular culture).
Hervás Amezcua' work moves between oils and bronze sculptures although he improves too the engraving and mural painting. He has exhibited his work in prestigious places in Spain anyway in other countries (Germany, Brasil, United States, Finland, Iceland, Israel and Luxembourg).
The prize Antoni Serra is in gratitude for his prolific profesional career.
